The Cultural Workshops are a series of activities organised by members of our community who wish to share an aspect of their culture. This time Demba and Malick taught us how to cook “Maafé”, a dish originating from Mali, but which then spread across to Senegal, Gambia and other countries in West Africa. To go with the Maafe, we also made some bissap juice. This West African drink is made of Hibiscus, a plant which is native to the region.
A big thank you to Demba and Malick for sharing with us their cooking knowledge and skills. We look forward to making the dish ourselves, and hopefully to enjoy more Senegalese food in the future!
